Great win in first home game!

A beautiful and sunny day for our first game at new home ground Bedfont Sports was a good day to welcome QPR for a West London derby.
Both clubs having done good recruitment in pre-season which made the anticipation high in both camps.

In the early stages both teams were sizing each other up and both were caught by off side flags that halted attacks. It didn’t take long however before great play down the left where Georgia released Steph who proceeded forward before playing a great square ball across the edge of the box where Wiki arrived and smashed the ball passed the keeper with only 4 minutes on the clock. 1-0.

Following the early set back for the visitors they tried hard to get a foot hold in the game with a bit of pressure but bar a couple of freekicks around the half way line it lead to nothing.
Instead Wiki had a dangerous run down the right and put in a low ball in a dangerous area looking for Steph but a defender got back just in time to clear it. Shortly after Abi had a shot blocked in the penalty area.
QPR then broke on the counter with a long ball that the striker put just wide of the far post before a dangerous corner saw Zahra make a sharp double save to keep the lead intact.

Hard work in midfield then paid off when a QPR player was pressured to play the ball backwards which sent Steph through on goal. Having nutmegged the onrushing keeper she was brought down by the chasing defender but the ball still had enough momentum to roll into the empty net to double the lead. 2-0.

Further pressure then lead to Steph putting in a great cross that Zahmena very nearly turned in at the far post.
Following a few corners from QPR that came to nothing, Steph ran onto a long goal kick from Zahra, played in Abi who squared it to Georgia who was stretching and the ball went wide.
More pressure saw Georgia play the ball into Steph from the left but her header was straight at the keeper.
Nothing else of note happened before the referee blew the whistle for half time.

HT 2-0.

The second half started with a half chance from QPR from a good cross but the forward was stretching for the ball and it went wide.
Shortly after they won a freekick down their left but it was headed well wide.
Neat play from Wiki in midfield led to a cross from Abi but it was too close to the keeper for Steph to threaten.
Steph was then played down the right by Abi but her effort to cross it was cut out by the keeper. Zahmena went on a good run and dribbled past a few opponents but her shot was too weak to trouble the keeper. A long distance shot from QPR was then caught easily by Zahra before their striker was played in through the middle but under heavy pressure from Viv and Liv she rolled it wide.

Around the hour mark the first substitution was made with Chloe replacing Zahmena. She was straight into the action and released Steph following some neat footwork but her shot went over the bar.
Abi and Wiki then combined down the right and Wiki played a great ball into Kendra who aimed for the far corner but the keeper got down and made a good stop.
The pressure was kept high however and the hard work meant QPR couldn’t clear their lines, Chloe dropping in to win the ball for Abi who then played a lovely through ball for Steph who made no mistake and rolled it past the keeper for her second goal of the day. 3-0.

With just over 20 minutes left to play Wiki was substituted off for Hana.

More good play down the left led to another shot by Kendra but it was wide. QPR had a great chance when a scuffed shot played in their striker but Zahra was out quickly and made a great point blank save to keep the score intact. Chloe then had a good strike well saved by the keeper before Hana tried her luck but the keeper collected. Steph who had put in a fantastic performance was then given a rest and was replaced by Julia.

A great freekick from Hana was knocked down by Liv to Kayra who kept it alive, Chloe pounced almost on the goal line but the defender did incredibly to block it out for a corner which sadly came to nothing.
Up the other end Liv made a brilliant challenge to block a close range shot out for a corner which led to a QPR header on target which Zahra caught easily.

The remaining minutes were played mostly in the QPR half without any further chances being created before the referee brought the game to a close.

A fantastic game with so many strong performances across the pitch. Now we look forward to a cup game against Fulham on Tuesday.

FT 3-0.
